The only time people care about infrastructure is when it's failing. I called this "Make Infrastructure Boring". In an organisation where everything is working fine, it's hard to make people care about reliable infrastructure. However there is some appreciation when this is turned around and what used to be unreliable is now something they don't have to think about. I suspect this effect fades over time as people get used to the status quo and start to take reliable infrastructure for granted ...

We had buy-in from senior leadership, so we had shoutouts during company addresses. That kept it in the forefront for a bit.
